Developer Brent Brownlee has said a community meeting with Joy Avenue residents would be “a good idea,” once plans for a proposed apartment building in the area are given the green light.

During an appearance before Perth town council’s committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, April 2, Brownlee said that he had spoken to some residents of Joy Avenue about the proposed three-storey, 23-unit building at the intersection of Joy and Kippen Street.

“He certainly did not approach me, not that he has to,” said Joy Avenue resident Roy van der Mull, during a telephone interview on Tuesday, April 9. If offered a chance to talk to Brownlee, van der Mull said “I would definitely take that opportunity to talk,” he said. “I’m sure he’s a busy man. I like peace and quiet.
