Perth town council has given conditional support to a new, four-storey, 57-unit apartment building north of Highway 7.
The building, to be built on 111 Sheppard Ave., was given the yellow light at Perth town council’s committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, April 21. Town hall’s junior planner, Michelle Mahon, wrote in her report to council that the “site plan has been approved at the staff level,” and by the planning advisory committee on April 6. It goes to full council for final approval on May 26.
Developer Brent Brownlee “has gone to a lot of effort to consult with people in the neighbourhood,” said Coun. Judy Brown during the meeting, of the residents of The Meadows’ homes across the road, and beside the property. “It sounds like a great project.”
Coun. David Bird explained that while the plans for the building may show a four-storey building “at first glance,” there is an underground parking component to be considered, and that “visually, it is not a square box of four storeys.”
