Estimated Propane Costs (2025)

2025 Cost ($0.73 a litre) 

  • Rate = 73 cents per litre.
  • Carbon Tax (will likely increase in April 2025) = 11 cents per litre.
  • HST Tax = 13%.
  • Delivery Fee: $10.95.
  • Average Cost of Propane = 73 cents + 11 cents + 13% = 95 cents per litre + $10.95 delivery fee.
  • Average Annual Propane Usage Based on 3 Month Period = 1233 litres (the first year for a new build is the highest cost for propane as the interior wood needs to dry. Now that we include electric heat pumps that heat and cool the home until -22C propane is now likely only needed for December – March.

    • 1000 SQ.FT. = 1666+ litres annually.
    • 1500 SQ.FT. = 2536+ litres annually.
    • 2000 SQ.FT. = 3407+ litres annually.
    • 3000+ SQ.FT. = 4921+ litres annually.

    Average Annual Propane Usage Per Appliance

    • Furnace = 3785+ litres.

    • Hot Water Heater = 946+ litres.

    • Gas Fireplace = 757+ litres.

    First Year – Cleary Model

    Our Cleary model used 3700 litres in its first year. The first year usually uses the most propane as the interior wood of the home needs to dry.
