Developer Brent Brownlee has hopes that the arrival of a new planner at town hall will see a quickening of development matters being resolved at town hall — especially during this time of crisis.
Bradley Wright, Perth town hall’s new planner, took up his new role on April 6, and Brownlee said that he hoped that by having a full-time planner in place for the first time since October, will mean that “that process will start to quicken,” he said during a telephone interview on Wednesday, April 15.
Brownlee, owner of Tweedsmuir Land Development Inc., said that in the months since the departure of Forbes Symon, the previous planner, last fall, “we’ve continued to work with the town,” but, “clearly they’ve been slowed with the Covid-19 situation,” and that, when it comes to planning, “public meetings are impossible.”
While there have been significant curbs put onto Ontario’s construction industry, “it has not put a stop to our residential construction,” said Brownlee, of The Meadows subdivision project north of Highway 7. “We are quite happy for that.”
