A Perth hotel that has been in receivership for almost two years has a new lease on life. Code’s Mill Inn on the Park & Spa will officially reopen in May with a new name: the Best Western Plus Inn on the Park Suites & Spa.

Chris Saumure of the Smiths Falls-based Saumure Group of Companies announced Monday morning that he and his new business partners had taken possession of the hotel Thursday, Dec. 8. Saumure’s partners in the purchase of the building are his father Guy Saumure, Avis and Brent Brownlee, and John Hinton.

Saumure said renovations to the hotel would begin immediately, and that he plans to have the pool and spa fully operational for the May 2012 reopening. The new owners have successfully applied to the Best Western chain to have the hotel become a Best Western Plus property, a designation which means that the facility has a higher level of amenities than average. Saumure said plans call for a complete makeover of the guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas, with new furniture, TVs, draperies, linens and equipment to be installed. A porte cochere, or covered entrance, will also be installed.
