Staff, students and the community at large were all smiles Friday as the brand new Perth Campus of Algonquin College hosted a capacity crowd for its official opening.

“It’s a wonderful day, and to think that it’s happening is beyond belief,” said Lana March, chair of the campaign team tasked with raising $1 million locally toward the $10 million cost of the new campus building.

The new 42,000 square foot campus incorporates modern design and traditional materials, and includes a student commons, new trades workshops, and academic classrooms. The new building uses natural ventilation and lighting, and is large enough to accommodate 40 per cent more students.
