You’ve heard of Darou Farm — are you ready for Darou Arena?
Outgoing acting chief administrative officer John deRosenroll’s “Financial and Strategic Solutions Report,” tabled at the March 10 special Perth town council committee of the whole meeting, outlined a reset of sorts for the town’s finances, but also for future development in the area.
If the town’s application for an Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) grant is approved, then deRosenroll asked that the town-owned Darou Farm location be considered as the home of the town’s proposed multi-purpose arena.
“We are considering that (area),” said Mayor John Fenik during a telephone interview on Wednesday, April 29. But as for financing, “all of that stuff is up in the air right now. I’m not sure how much money is left over,” with all of the money being spent on Covid-19 relief at the moment.
